Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off with BGFiestaval: enjoy culture & cuisine

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Mark your calendars for this weekend’s BGFIESTAVAL.

The bi-annual Hispanic festival returns to downtown Bowling Green this Saturday morning.

Bowling Green’s Mayor Todd Alcott will sign a proclamation celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the festival.

Come check out the authentic Mexican food, dance, music, games, and more, all prepared and presented by BG’s Latino community. The event is free to the community all day Saturday and Sunday.

Dancers perform every hour, with plenty of piñatas, tons of food, games on the stage, and karaoke on both nights.

BGFIESTAVAL coordinator Anita Parra said, “It’s important to celebrate [Hispanic Heritage Month] so that we don’t forget our culture, and we can bring this to generations who haven’t heard of or experienced this before.”

Friday night, you can kick off your weekend with “A Taste of Latin America”.

To start off your weekend, head to Western Kentucky University to sample tasty Latin American food at the “All Around the World” event hosted by the Western Kentucky University Organizations of Latin American Students, WKU HOLAS. Visit Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. for a taste.
